MADAM - It was very pleasing to read the article (Bromsgrove Advertiser, 02 November) on Dr Nicholl standing to become Bromsgrove's MP in the next general election.

I have always felt that it is a real shame that we have an MP for the constituency that is a career politician who was parachuted in because Bromsgrove was a safe Conservative seat.
I do hope that all of the other parties field local people to be their parliamentary candidates as well.
Whatever your political views, I think we can agree that it has to be in the best interests of the constituency to have your local MP being from the area that they are sent to Westminster to represent.
