AN inspiring 11-year-old from Stourport has received a national Citizen Youth Award for her commitment to ridding her hometown of litter.
Chloe Blanchfield set about clearing her five-mile school route of rubbish in March after growing concerned about the animals grazing in nearby fields.
The challenge took her 33 days to complete and Chloe filled an impressive 63 bin bags with litter.
As part of her work with the Junior Pick Up Artists, Chloe also encourages her friends and fellow pupils to care about the environment as much as she does.
Chloe was one of 26 youngsters from across the UK to be recognised at this year's British Citizen Youth Awards for their extraordinary contribution to society, charities and good causes.
Mum Karen said: "Our family are incredibly proud of Chloe’s achievements. Her dedication towards the environmental issues around litter pollution is so commendable.
"Her love and passion towards the safety of the wildlife is extraordinarily and we will continue to support her litter picking adventures and ideas.
"One thing I have learnt as a mom is listen to your children they can be very powerful at times.”
Chloe was presented with her medal by Got to Dance presenter and Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt at the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday, October 16.
Speaking after the awards, Chloe said: “I was very pleased to receive this special medal and delighted that I can make more people aware that litter hurts the wildlife and animals.
"Please pick up your litter and keep our planet clean and tidy for everyone.”
