A COUNTY accountancy firm is celebrating a pair of awards this month.

Ballards LLP's Ben Powell has been nominated for Young Accountant of the Year in this year's Digital Accountancy Awards and Chloe Matthews has been awarded Worcester University's Excellence in Financial Reporting award having gained the highest grades in both her second and third year of studies.

Mr Powell, one of Worcestershire’s youngest chartered accountants to be appointed as a partner within a firm, said: “I am delighted to have been nominated for this award.

"It was a real surprise and I look forward to the ceremony later this month.”

Accounts & audit associate, Miss Matthews joined Ballards LLP on their graduate scheme earlier this year having studied Accountancy and Finance at Worcester University.

On top of her academic success, she has also been presented the ‘H&W Chamber of Commerce Prize for Outstanding Performance in Accountancy, Finance & Economics’ which was gained for having the highest grades out of the graduating students.

She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Worcester University and this is the icing on top.

"My studies have really helped me hit the ground running in my new role at Ballards LLP."
