Sir – I’m writing in response to the letter from Beverley Croasdell (Think of the many, not the few, October 3).

I do not have time to list the inacuracies in full, however for the many not the few is incredibly misguided.

Cllr Stephen has suggested approximately 90 residents oppose the development of a small community sports facility at Perdiswell.

Over 1,500 people supported the development during the public consultation phase of planning, more than double those that opposed.

As you can see from the turnout at the recent local elections, most residents are not bothered either way. Worcester City Council have refused to publish the results of the most recent consultation on Perdiswell sadly. The site is identified in the South Worcestershire Development Plan and Worcester Playing Pitch Strategy as a site of significant value to the city in terms of sporting facilities and these plans received cross party support.

The planning appeal decision, reviewed by an independent government appointed planning inspector, dismissed any concerns about parking, traffic, light and noise pollution and loss of green space. So there needs to be a new argument from those who oppose. The same people who oppose Perdiswell have no issue with the Green and Conservatives ripping up green belt land for an international hockey stadium, for a private school and private member’s club, where the land was bought and paid for by Worcester City Council!

The lies must stop.Bring City Home.
