TWO brothers will be taking to the Malvern Hills next weekend in memory of their father who died earlier this year.

Dan and Simon Batty will walk the full length of the hills on Sunday, October 20, to raise money for Herefordshire Mind, as their father had been experiencing anxiety, depression and tinnitus.

Liz Batty, Dan and Simon’s mum and Steve’s wife, said: “We’re glad to be working with Herefordshire Mind and helping them to raise money so they can help people in similar situations to Steve.

"We’re also so grateful for all the support we’ve had from our local community.”

Dan and Simon welcome anyone who wishes to join them on their walk.

They will be setting off from Chase End at 9.15am, before stopping at Sally’s Place Kiosk at British Camp at around 11.30am to noon.

There they will be met by a representative from Herefordshire Mind as well as local Reverend Melanie Horton, who is dedicating the weekend to awareness of mental health in Colwall, where the family is from.

Mrs Batty said: "Dig deep and sponsor the boys. It’s for a great cause.

"There will also be plenty of cash collection buckets on the day.

"Thank you for your support. I look forward to seeing you soon.

"Thank you to Malvern Hills Conservators for giving us permission to organise this walk."

Mr Batty, aged 52, was last seen leaving his home on Friday, March 1, His body was discovered the following day after a police search.

Malvern Rugby Football Club cancelled its game against Hereford that day, as Dan plays for the team.
