Lead singer from 1960s band The Fortunes, Chris Hutchinson, visited Richmond Wood Norton, where his mother is a resident, to perform a concert of the band’s classics including Here It Comes and ‘You’ve Got Your Troubles, as well as a selection of the village residents favourite songs.

This week the BBC is celebrating its fifth annual Music Day, with this year’s theme being music and wellbeing - the power of music to inspire.

BBC Music Day has collaborated with organisations involved with dementia care across the UK, to utilise their networks to help bring music to everyone living with dementia in the UK.

Judith Lewis, head of activities at Richmond Villages in Wood Norton, said: “It has been great to collaborate with the BBC as part of its Music Day initiative, helping to bring music to everyone in the UK living with dementia.

"We’d like to thank Chris Hutchinson for coming and performing at Richmond Wood Norton, our residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert and reliving songs of their past."

"Bringing music to people living with dementia is so important as it can really help improve their quality of life."
