MEMBERS of the Ludlow Cancer Support Group excelled when they set out to help the department that deals with blood disorders at Shrewsbury Hospital.
When members of Ludlow Cancer Support group decided to organise a prize bingo night in aid of the O’Connor haematology unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, they never imagined the event would raise £850.00!
After some discussion, it was agreed the group would add another £250 to the
total from its own funds, and, the group’s treasurer, Pauline Goslyn, was able to present Linda Morgan, manager, of the haematology unit, with a cheque for £1,000.
The haematology department receives approximately 1,800 new cases per year and offers 8,000 follow-ups.
Most of its case work takes place in the purpose-built haematology day
unit.
