A MOTORCYCLIST who died following a crash in Halesowen has been named as Gemma Smith.

The 24-year-old was involved in a serious motorbike accident on Manor Way at around 12.20pm on Saturday, September 14.

Her family have today (September 20) paid tribute to Gemma, who despite the best efforts of medics, passed away in hospital four days later, on Wednesday September 18.

In a statement released today, Gemma's parents said: “We are devastated at the sudden loss of our beautiful daughter; she will always be remembered as a vibrant and active young lady who had so much to give.

"As a family we respectfully request privacy to grieve during this very difficult time.”

A police investigation is being carried out to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

PC David Hand from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are still keen to hear from any witnesses and particularly anyone with dashcam footage who could assist our investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with her family who are being supported by specialist officers."
