A man has been charged after a woman plunged from the fifth floor of a tower block in Rubery.

Officers investigating the incident in Cock Hill Lane, Rubery, last month have charged a man with breaching a restraining order.

Police were called to the road just before 2am on Saturday, August 31, where a 29-year-old woman was found with serious injuries after falling from a fifth floor window.

She was taken to hospital with critical injuries but her condition has since improved.

Darren Edwards, aged 22, of no fixed address was arrested in connection with the fall and yesterday (Monday 16 September) charged with breach of a restraining order.

A spokesman for the police said enquiries were continuing to establish how the woman came to fall from the building.

Edwards is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 17 September).
