A SPECIAL firewalk event is taking place this weekend to raise money for a Worcestershire animal rescue charity

Volunteers will be walking on hot coals this Saturday, September 7, from 6.30pm at The Holdings Rescue & Rehoming Centre in Holdings Lane, Kempsey, Worcester WR5 3FP.

All funds raised will go to the rescued animals being cared for at Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire RSPCA, such as12-year-old cat Lewys.

Geraldine Haynes, branch trustee, said: "Please support the volunteers who are helping animals in need from Worcestershire.

"We are a self-financing charity and need to raise funds locally for all the animal welfare and rehoming work carried out by the branch.

"Many animals have been abused, neglected or just unwanted from our area, which covers Worcester, Malvern, Upton, Pershore, Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Redditch.

"Some are taken into our care when owners' circumstances have changed, such as eviction or bereavement."

Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the live band Dublin Jacks, who will be playing from 7pm. There will also be a bar and a barbecue, plus various stalls and the on-site shop will be open from 7pm until 8pm, with new items to buy at bargain prices.
