A WORCESTERSHIRE friendship group is hosting several special get-togethers to encourage people to make new friends.

With friendship a hugely important factor for both health and happiness, the Oddfellows branch in the county is encouraging residents to join them for several events next month.

The group is holding a quiz on Tuesday, September 3, at 7.30pm, at the Elizabeth Mills Centre, Sion Gardens, Stourport, ten-pin bowling on Tuesday, September 10, at 10am at Bowl Extreme, Perdiswell Park, Worcester, a quiz on Monday, September 23, at noon at the Prince of Wales, Windermere Drive, Warndon, and a whist drive on Tuesday, September 24, at 7.30pm, at the Barbourne Ex-Servicemen’s Club, The Moors, Worcester.

Sandra Loynes, secretary of Worcester District Oddfellows, said: “Many studies have proved how regular company is essential to living a happier life. In fact, some would say that spending time with friends is as important as eating healthily or exercising. Friends aren’t just there to socialise with, they provide support and comfort in times of need."
