MORE than £7,000 has been spent to turn a village hall into a full-blown 'cinema experience'.

A high-quality high definition projector, media player and sound system have been installed at Fairfield Village Hall so the local community can watch movies there.

The 'Fairfield Flicks' initiative - a voluntary-run cinema project - is being funded by the Village Hall and Belbroughton & Fairfield Village Parish Council.

Fairfield Village Community Association is helping to deliver the scheme, whereby films will be show on the Stourbridge Road hall's existing five-metre wide screen.

An autumn schedule has already been released with a host of family-friendly films including Red Joan (September 25, 2pm) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (October 23, 2pm).

Also showing are Harvey and the Magic Museum (October 30, 11am), Five Feet Apart (October 30, 7.30pm), The Hustle (November 20, 7.30pm) and Hidden Figures (November 27, 2pm).

All daytime tickets are £3 each and for evening shows the price is £5. Refreshments will be available, at for a nominal charge. Doors open 30 minutes before each film showing.

There is free parking behind the Village Hall and at the village Recreation Ground.

Conrad Palmer, spokesperson for Fairfield Flicks, said: “This collaborative venture to bring the big screen to the Village Hall will enhance community cohesiveness and reduce social isolation among people living within our local and wider community.

"We are all excited and we hope the people of Bromsgrove and the surrounding area enjoy our cinema experience.”
