A FUNDRAISING page set up in memory of a young mum killed in a road crash has raised over £5,000.

Inkberrow mum Nicola Johnson, aged 30, died in a collision on the A422 Alcester Road between Flyford Flavell and Inkberrow on Friday, August 2.

Following the tragic incident, a group of mums that had become friends with Nicola decided to set up the GoFundMe page in her memory and to support partner Jamie Mackie and their two daughters.

Both girls are under five, with the eldest about to start secondary school.

The GoFundMe page, set up less than a week ago, has now exceeded its initial goal of £5,000.

The page says that funds will help provide the girls with some happy days out and "take financial pressure away from Jamie whilst he grieves."

Campaign organiser and close friend Sarah Houghton said: "I went to school with Jamie and myself and Nicola had become friends via our little girls as they are best friends at preschool.

"What’s happened to Nicola has really pulled at my heart. I am the same age, my daughter is the same age as hers and it’s a road I’ve travelled daily for over 10 years.

"It really puts life into perspective and makes you realise how precious and fragile life is.

"I think everyone in the local community feels the same.

"Nicola was an amazing bubbly mum who adored her girls. Jamie is understandably devastated."

Nicola's partner Jamie said: "I'm really overwhelmed by all this all me and my girls can say is thank you so so much for all the kindness."
