AN elderly man was knocked to the floor and had £500 stolen in a daring daylight robbery.

The man was using the cashpoint in Bleachfield Street in Alcester when he was barged out of the way by a woman who then 'fell' against the cashpoint.

During this distraction £500 has been withdrawn from the machine.

The woman then ran off down Bleachfield Street.

Police described her as possibly being Eastern European, with long brown hair, under a baseball cap.

They added she was wearing dark leggings and cream coloured top.

A spokesman said: "This is the second offence at the cashpoint where the offender has forced themselves in between the member of the public and the cashpoint at the exact moment that the machine is asking how much needs to be withdrawn.

"We understand that when the female offender ran off from the incident on July 24 a vehicle was seen driving up Bleachfield Street at the same time. This may have been an innocent member of the public or the offenders associates.

"If you were in the area at the time and may have seen the offender or a car in Bleachfield Street that would have picked her up, please let us know. Those with dash cams travelling through the town at the time may have also recorded the incident or the offender."

The incident happened around 10.30am on Wednesday, July 24.

Anyone with any information is being urged to call police on 101 quoting 0121 24/07/2019.
