BROMSGROVE must invest in its neglected bus shelters, says Norton councillor and Lib Dem group leader Rob Hunter.
At last week’s council meeting cllr Hunter questioned the ruling Conservative Group over the lack of upkeep of bus shelters.
It was revealed that only £2,000 a year is set aside for the maintenance of 44 shelters.
Cllr Hunter said that was not good enough.
“Across the town many of our ageing bus shelters have missing or broken panels and are in poor state of repair,” he said.
“We should be investing in our public transport infrastructure to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and get the bus or train instead. The poor state of our shelters hardly encourages people to do the right thing.”
Cllr Hunter and the Lib Dem Group are calling from for a full review of bus shelters across the district to make sure they are all in good condition.
