THE first ever Bromsgrove Dining Club is set to be an out of this world experience with performances from a gravity-defying astronaut from the future.

The street food event, presented by Birmingham’s popular Digbeth Dining Club, takes place at the town’s recreation ground next Saturday (August 3) and the street theatre is right next door.

The dining club is open 11am until 3pm, and the shows are at 12pm and 2pm.

Featuring the likes of Only Jerkin’, Original Patty Men, Bournville Waffle Co, Love Kimchi, Beef on the Block, Goody Gujarati, Dim Sum Su, Urban Cheesecake, Street Kitchen Bros, and Leave it to Esmie, there should be something for everyone’s tastes.

Meanwhile alongside the dining club, in a show called Urban Astronaut, a space-suited traveller arrives from a polluted and inhospitable future Earth and meets a girl.

Can the human race still change, and avoid that poisoned future? Witness the Urban Astronaut defy gravity, spinning and turning high in the air with no strings attached thanks to a unique flying machine.

Cllr Karen May, Leader of Bromsgrove District Council and portfolio holder for Economic Development and Bromsgrove Town Centre, said: “This summer Bromsgrove will be better than ever and bustling once again with our range of top quality events, celebrating the kind of independent traders that make the town tick. It promises to be a fantastic Saturday in Bromsgrove for the whole family, just as the summer holidays really get into full swing.”

Urban Astronaut marks the start of Space Week, a week of space-themed summer holiday stuff to do in Bromsgrove.

It's in honour of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

There’s also a rocket building workshop at Bromsgrove Library on Wednesday, August 7, and showings of Apollo 11 and Alien at Artrix on Friday, August 9.

Booking is essential for these events, which are first come first served.

Bromsgrove Dining Club and Urban Astronaut are brought to the town by North Worcestershire Economic Development and Regeneration (NWedr), on behalf of Bromsgrove District Council.
