JAZZ fans enjoyed a stomping good time at an annual charity gig at Bewdley’s St George’s Hall, which raised a record amount of more than £1,000 for cancer research.
The sell-out event, organised by the Wyre Forest committee of Cancer Research UK, featured the Ad Hoc Jazz Band and included a fish and chip supper.
Committee chairman Peter Tomlinson, who is also Worcestershire County Council chairman, kept the beat going on the drums, with a number of fellow councillors in the audience.
He said: “This popular fundraiser was started back in 2000 by Geoff Goodwin, the district’s most distinguished trombonist, who handed over the reins last year and now he and his wife, Heather, a long serving member of our committee, concentrate on sorting the supper from Merchants fish bar. Many thanks to all who gave their support.”
