STAFF at a Worcester-based environmental consultancy firm were celebrating after winning a prestigious county business award.

Focus Ecology, based in Hallow, were proud to be awarded 'Micro Business of the Year' at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Business Awards 2019.

The business was also highly commended by the judges in the 'Excellence in Professional Service' category and were shortlisted for 'Employer of the Year.'

Fern Fellowes-Day, co-director of Focus Ecology alongside Graham Davison, said she was proud of what the team has achieved.

She said: "Over the past few years the team have worked really hard to grow Focus Ecology and develop it into the multi-disciplinary company it is today.

"We are exceptionally proud to be announced as Micro Business of the Year, and feel this award is an excellent opportunity to get our name out to a wider audience and expand the business further."

"We achieved this through implementing innovative marketing strategies, effective staff training and development and through the trialling and continued development of digital technology to aid efficiency."

Judges said that Focus Ecology had demonstrated 'tremendous growth in turnover and profitability' since its launch in 2010 to scoop Micro Business of the Year.

Focus Ecology’s core area of expertise is in the production of specialist ecological and arboricultural reports and advice to support planning applications.

This year's Chamber of Commerce Business Awards were held on July 4 at Worcester Arena, and celebrated excellence in business practice and innovation from across the two counties, with 14 categories of award to enter.

After a delicious three-course dinner with entertainment, the winners of the Chamber Business Awards were revealed.

After the event, winners were invited to the after party at Bolero Bar in Worcester.

All finalists of the Chamber Business Awards 2019 are automatically entered into the national British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) Awards if there is a corresponding category.

Last year, six businesses from Herefordshire and Worcestershire were crowned as winners in the West Midlands’ heat of the Chamber Business Awards 2018.
