A CHARITY which supports young carers has received a donation of £630 after the money was raised at the Worcestershire Education Awards.

Attendees at the event at the University Arena in Worcester, on June 20, were asked to place donations for YSS inside envelopes which were on each table, and a total of £631 was raised.

YSS, also known as Worcestershire Young Carers, supports carers aged seven to 25.

In a letter thanking the Worcester News, which organised the awards, YSS chief executive Catherine Kevis said: "Your donation means that we are able to continue to provide clubs and activities for young carers, giving them the opportunity to have a break from their caring responsibilities."

The annual awards, run in partnership with the University of Worcester, celebrate the county's educators. There are three finalists in each of 12 categories, who all attended the ceremony to find out the winners.
