A HEDGEHOG lovingly nursed back to health after being injured by a garden mower or strimmer has been released into the wild.

A video records the moment when the creature tentatively takes its first steps back into the area where she was found.

The creature, named Charlotte by the Ross-on-Wye Hedgehog Care and Advice group, was hurt six weeks ago in the Oaklands part of the town.

A spokesperson said: "We really didn’t think she would make it, but tonight she was back out in the big world."

"This is a happy outcome for Charlotte but also a reminder of how important it is to check your gardens before mowing and strimming."
