Sir,

A recent report in the national press shows that councils are bringing millions of pounds worth of public services back in-house.

The Asssociation of Public Service Excellence shows that 77% plan this, and between 2016 and 2018, over 220 contracts have been brought back in.

This is truly a magic moment; perhaps the end of the corporate insanity which has possessed local government for years.

The NHS are following suit with cervical cancer screening, after Capita failed to remind more than 40,000 women about smear tests, with disastrous consequences in some cases.

However, we must remember that the bone-headed stupidity that led the lame brains, laughingly referred to as ‘management’,  to think they could provide better services more cheaply by contracting out has cost literally billions of pounds – of OUR MONEY, wasted by their mindless idiocy.

It was the German writer Schiller who said, ‘ Against stupidity, the Gods themselves battle in vain.’

Yours faithfully,

David Withey
