A CHARITY will writing initiative has raised thousands for a Wyre Forest hospice.

Experts from Kidderminster law firm mfg Solicitors donated their time to offer free will writing to the public, with those taking part giving a voluntary donation to Kidderminster’s KEMP Hospice.

The money has gone to the Mason Road-based hospice, which helps individuals, families and carers experiencing life limiting conditions.

The initiative saw experts from the firm’s Private Client department helping 57 people complete new wills between Monday May 20 and Friday May 24.

The law firm raised a total of £4,000.

Rachel Summers, a senior associate at the Kidderminster firm, said: “KEMP Hospice is an amazing charity which does an enormous amount of work for patients and their families. We were delighted to be working closely with them again.

“It cares for people at their most vulnerable and makes sure their loved ones have as much support as possible to cope with what is happening. Making a will is so important to ensure that wishes are complied with after death. It avoids adding to the already enormous heartache that comes from losing a relative.”

Cathy Sloan, Head of Fundraising at KEMP Hospice, added: “We are very grateful to everyone at mfg for their continued support as part of this year’s will writing week.

“Generous businesses like mfg make an enormous contribution towards keeping KEMP going, by funding our running costs and ultimately helping people at their time of greatest need.

“It is thanks to Rachel and the team at mfg, who have supported our Make A Will Week campaign for almost a decade, that there are now nearly 60 more people who have now set out their own wishes, and through that have supported the vital work KEMP carries out across the Wyre Forest.”
