Herefordshire Wildlife Trust has increased its fundraising target to further restore wildlife habitat at a county nature reserve.
Having reached their initial £5,000 target within a few months, the Trust has now set its sights on £8,000. The appeal is raising funds to support the development of three of the islands within Bodenham Lake into better habitat for wetland birds and other wildlife.
The works are part of the Lugg Wetland Gem project, primarily funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project began last year beginning with extensive surveying of the wildlife at the nature reserve.
The project has also included the installation of a new bird hide and screening and new signage around the reserve.
Project Officer Sophie Cowling said: "This is such an exciting opportunity to create a fantastic nature reserve and haven for wildlife in the heart of the county.
"The extra fundraising will allow us to complete the improvements to the highest possible standard."
