Bromyard Gala returns for its 52nd year

Taking place at the Burgess Farm, Avenbury, on June 29 and 30, one of the main attractions will be a group of children from just five-years-old taking to the main arena to perform motorbike tricks, stunts and jumps.

Every year the Gala has a main arena event and in years gone have even seen the Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry entertain the crowds for the 25th anniversary in 1992. The organisation's chairman is hopeful the display team will be well received.

Steve Matthews said: "We always have an arena event because we already have all the usual stuff. We saw these at a different show so asked them if they'd perform this year.

"We have a budget set every year for the main event, in the past we've had the Royal Signals White Helmets, but now we have to look elsewhere."

There will also be the usual features from heavy horses to steam engines and vintage caravans to floats, with the theme of musicals this year.

The produce and handicrafts tent will return after it was missed by regulars at last year's event. Local schools also get involved as children make different pieces of art to enter.

"Handicrafts are back this year, last year it was postponed first of all but it never happened.

"It gets local children involved, then parents get involved and have to come along and see what they've made."

Advance tickets are available online, but on the day will cost £10 for adults, £9 for seniors, £2 for children under 16 and free entry for children under 5. Family and weekend tickets are also available.
