THE community of Winyates will be coming together for a fundraising day to help save a much loved community centre.

An appeal has been launched to raise £5,000 to help REACH CIC deliver much needed local services for the town, and keep the centre open.

REACH (Redditch East Aspiring Communities Hub) CIC grew out of the Winning Winyates Project that was funded by Worcestershire County Council from 2010 to 2015.

Like many projects across the country the funding ended in June 2015.

Those responsible decided to take a leap of faith and set up REACH CIC.

The fundraising event will be held at The Winyates Bar and Grill on Winyates centre between 1pm and 5pm then an adults only evening from 7pm which will include live music.

Craig Taylor, landlord of The Winyates Bar and Grill, said: “We are excited to join the staff at The Space raising money for our local community centre which is so important to the residents and my customers. We look forward to having a great day."

The Space is also hosting a clothes swap shop at the same time.

Debbie Harkin, who has organised the swap shop, said: “Come support your local community group and get a whole new look at the same time. Everyone is welcome to come along on the day to join the fun.

Liz Williams, director of REACH CIC, said: “Our local community continues to be amazing in their efforts to help us stay open. We are always grateful to them."
