THIS year's Redditch Carnival Route has been revealed.

The much loved event is taking place on September 28 and has promised to be bigger and better.

And the following year it has been revealed that the carnival will be back to its traditional format - floats and a huge town procession.

Speaking about this year's route, chairman of the Carnival Committee, Amanda Haden, said: "Redditch United have kindly agreed to let us start from their grounds. We will stop on the Church Green where we plan to have a stage set up with some great live music."

The prospect of bringing back the original Redditch Carnival became a reality after the formation of a carnival team last year.

A meeting was hosted by councillor Mike Rouse, in a volunteer capacity, at Redditch Town Hall after he said there was a lot of talk on Facebook about bringing the carnival back.

An interim committee was formed and one of the volunteers who stepped up was Amanda Haden.

She said "Like most people I have spoken to, some of my fondest childhood memories are of the carnival and not just the parade."

"The lead up to the old Redditch Carnival and the planning of floats was all people would talk about for weeks and months beforehand. It gave everyone in the community common ground and bought everyone together."

"Our community these days is far more diverse, it would be so great to bring it all together to share our cultures, hobbies, and interests and to highlight all the clubs, groups and businesses we have in our town."
