THERE was a colourful sight at the recent Asparagus Colour Run.

Hundreds took part in this year's event, which raised £600 for the local Evesham and District Mental Health Support Services (EDMHSS) as well as £2,500 for the Alpkit Foundation.

Annually the popular event sees competitors from across the region take part manoeuvring the multi-terrain family friendly run, having asparagus green paint bombs raining down on them.

Olivia Hancock, Evesham’s Carnival Queen, joined as this year’s Asparagus Colour Run Ambassador to support EDMHSS.

The 12 years old, who has cerebral palsy and requires walking aids to help her get about, join in with the asparagus green fun for a great cause and crossed the finish line covered in powdered green paint and confetti.

The Alpkit Foundation, the charitable arm of outdoor clothing and equipment specialist Alpkit, was supported by The Valley’s 2019 Asparagus Colour Run to help give people and groups that may ordinarily miss out on a chance to enjoy the well-being benefits of nature, the opportunity to get out into the great outdoors by various grassroot initiatives.

Fiona Spear, retail marketing manager at The Valley said: ‘It was amazing to see hundreds of people of all ages and abilities enjoying getting active and having fun celebrating the local green asparagus season whilst helping to benefit more than those taking part on the day."
