TWO city pub pokers are set for the trip of a lifetime and will be in with a chance of winning life changing money.

Andrew Hope, representing the Virgin Tavern on Tolladine Road, and Christopher Gibbs of the Crown Inn on Main Road, will be hoping to play their cards right as Worcester’s qualifiers for the VEGAS100 tournament.

The pair both secured their places through success at qualifying events and they are now set to travel to the bright lights of Las Vegas on May 23, and compete to win a slice of the £25,000 prize pool.

Mr Hope and Mr Gibbs are now being recognised as two of the best 100 amateur poker players that have won the trip to the gambling capital of the world.

The pair will also be attempting to be crowned winner and receive the Player of Year title that would give them a £5,000 sponsorship deal for the year ahead. The pair could also have the opportunity to take part in an additional tournament with over $6,000 worth of prizes.

The event is organised by Redtooth Poker, the UK’s largest live pub poker league with more than 1,000 venues and over 200,000 players registered since its launch.

Martin Green, managing director of Redtooth Poker, said: “They have done remarkably well to reach this stage, progressing through from their local pubs to numerous regional and national tournaments.

“These are the best pub poker players in the UK so they fully deserve this once in a lifetime trip to America.

“This year we are celebrating 13 years of the Redtooth Poker league, we continue to grow from strength-to-strength and have become the event for poker players to take part in.

"You never know, we may unearth the next UK poker star to hit the professional stage in the future.”

The pair will also be competing against the 2018 VEGAS100 winner Tim Osborne, who will be travelling to Las Vegas to defend his title.

Since winning he has has taken part in multiple events around the country this year at Grosvenor Casinos, as part of his sponsorship prize.

Redtooth Poker, part of the Redtooth group that is based at Barlborough in North Derbyshire gives away over £270,000 in prizes to pub poker players throughout the year.
