SURPRISE! Cilla and the Shades of the 60s’ is proving to be one of the UK’s most popular musical stage shows of 2019.

And the good news is, it's coming to Redditch's Palace Theatre on May 22.

A spokesman said: "The irrepressible Victoria Jones will reprise her starring role as Cilla Black and invite audiences to ‘step inside’ her world.

"Together with vocalists The Shades, Victoria will take audiences on a poptastic musical journey through the life and career of the legendary Cilla Black."

The show starts with the discovery of the teenage Cilla at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club "and through a highly entertaining two-hour show of music and dance, stories and some delicious comedic moments, ‘Cilla and the Shades of the 60s’ will present a string of great hits by artistes who changed the world of popular entertainment in the 1960s".

The spokesman added: "The show features highlights of Cilla’s career: by the time Cilla was 21 she was working with Beatles’ producer George Martin and was at No. 1 with ‘You’re My World’ and ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’. She was Britain’s No. 1 female singer during the 1960s and subsequently became the most popular TV presenter with her own TV show ‘Cilla’ which ran 1966-1978 and ‘Blind Date’ which ran for a record breaking 18 years."

Victoria Jones said: "Performing as Cilla gives me the opportunity to celebrate the sound and style of a generation of women who made a vital contribution to music in the UK and abroad; artists like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Sandie Shaw, Kiki Dee as well as Cilla were all stars and I love performing their music onstage with The Shades."
