The latest of Wychavon District Council’s musical performances for people living with dementia will be held next week.

People will have the chance to enjoy the Orchestra of the Swan. Members of Stratford’s classical orchestra will play their instruments and people are encouraged to join in by clapping and singing.

Guests can find out about life as a professional musician or about favourite pieces of music, as well as share memories and thoughts about music.

The performance will be part of Wychavon District Council’s continuing series of music workshops, and will take place on Wednesday, February 20, at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore. It will start at 1.30pm and finish at approximately 3pm.

The workshops have been running since 2014 and will continue to run until March 2019, with a variety of music genres represented including Latin American, contemporary, classical and folk.

Jenny Davis, Arts Development Officer at Wychavon, said: “I’m delighted that these workshops and all of our musicians have committed to such an entertaining programme. The feedback we’ve been receiving shows that the workshops have a very positive impact on people by reducing isolation, getting them involved and helping them to make new friends.”

The cost to attend each workshop is just £2, and the price includes a hot drink and biscuits.

To book a place on any of the workshops please contact the Number 8 box office on 01386 555488 or go to number8.org.
