Materials Solutions, an additive manufacturing specialist, has opened a new 3D printing factory at the Worcester Six Business Park.

The 4500 sqft unit was opened just before Christmas, having been newly fitted-out by building contractor Speller Metcalfe.

The result of £27m investment, the new, high-spec unit will allow Materials Solutions to double its capacity of 3D printers to more than fifty and is expected to create around fifty new jobs.

Speller Metcalfe regional director Rob Lashford said: “Materials Solutions are leading the way in additive manufacturing in the UK and we are delighted to have worked with them to develop these fantastic new facilities.

“We have transformed an existing unit into a high-performance factory facility with a revised layout designed to increase productivity, and the necessary flexibility that will allow the business room to grow and adapt within the fast-paced manufacturing industry.”

Phil Hatherley, general manager of Materials Solutions, said: “We have ambitious plans to industrialise the additive manufacturing process and moving to the new Worcester Six facility is the first step to making that happen.

“We were all very impressed with Speller Metcalfe’s professional approach to the project and their handling and control of the site.”
