LUDLOW will again remember loved ones at Christmas with dedications on the town's tree of light.

The opportunity to pay tribute is organised by the Rotary club, who expect the centenary of the First World War armistice to add even greater poignancy this year.

The club is inviting people and organisations to make dedications to a special person – whether in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion – while at the same time supporting a local charity through their donation.

This year the money raised will go to Hands Together Ludlow, a group which co-ordinates volunteers to help support a wide range of local people. More information from www.handstogetherludlow.org.uk or at 52 Broad Street, Ludlow).

This is the 11th year that the club, in collaboration with Ludlow Town Council, has organised the Ludlow Rotary Tree of Light.

When Castle Gardens were first illuminated in 2011 as part of the town's Christmas lighting scheme an ancient yew tree was chosen as the tree of light.

It will be lit, immediately after the switch on of the town lights at 5pm, on the evening of the medieval fayre on Saturday, November 24.

There will be a torch-lit procession from the Harp Lane Deli led by carol singers to the tree in the Castle Gardens which, once switched on, will present a waterfall of lights, creating a focus for dedications and good wishes.

The form on this page can also be downloading here, at www.ludlowrotaryclub.org.uk or by visiting Wesley’s Café, 52 Broad Street, Nock Deighton’s office in the Bull Ring and mfg solicitors, 9 Corve Street.

Completed forms along with donations in a sealed envelope marked Tree of Light can be returned to Nock Deighton by hand or posted to Tree of Light ℅ Nock Deighton, 12 The Bull Ring, Ludlow SY8 1AD.

Cheques should be made payable to the Rotary Club of Ludlow Charity Account.

Alternatively, dedications and donations can be made electronically by visiting the Rotary Club of Ludlow's page at www.mydonate.bt.com/events/treeoflightludlow
