LONG distance walkers in south Shropshire have been helping to fight fires.
The Marches Group of the long-distance Walkers Association held a buffet evening for walk helpers at the Plough Inn Wistanstow where they presented cheques to The Firefighters Charity and the Wistanstow Village Hall Committee.
Money was raised from entry fees for the 26-mile Tour des Marches challenge walk.
People from all over the country started out from Wistanstow and visited checkpoints at Kempton, Clun, Bishop’s Castle and Plowden.
Kat Frost from Clun Fire Station received a cheque for £350 on behalf of The Firefighters Charity and Brian Pope and Pat Gould received a cheque for £850 fo the Wistanstow Village Hall Committee,
