A SURVEY has launched looking into how Warwickshire County Council provides recreational services to benefit the health and wellbeing of older people in the county.

The council is reviewing its Older People’s Day Opportunities services. These services are provided to people aged 65 years or over within their local community, offering activities to help support individuals’ health and wellbeing and provide social interaction and stimulation, as well as an opportunity for carers to have a break from their caring role.

The county council is undertaking this review to discover if the services are achieving their aims and meeting people’s needs, but also whether older people in Warwickshire feel part of their local community or if they feel isolated.

Loneliness and social the council also wants to gather views on how we can tackle this issue with services such as day opportunities.

The council is seeking the views not just of current services users and their relatives/carers, but also the wider public and anybody who wishes to contribute their thoughts on the service and the topic of isolation and loneliness in general.

People can respond to the survey until November 5 by completing an online survey – warwickshire.gov.uk/ask

Warwickshire County Councillor Les Caborn, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing said: “Ensuring we effectively support the health and wellbeing of Warwickshire’s older people is vitally important.

"We work with many partners and providers to deliver services that are customer-focused and accessible in the right places at the right times.

"To continue to do this, we need to hear from those impacted by the service as these views must be central to service redesign.

"I invite anyone with an interest in these services to take part in this survey.”
