Wickhamford Gardening Club

OUR February meeting was well attended and more members joined the club, as well as several guests of our existing members being present. The speaker was Anne Chambers who gave a most fascinating illustrated talk on her home, Kiftsgate Court Gardens which is renowned for the beautiful rose gardens. Her family have been the owners for many generations, and there are still many plants surviving that were planted in the 1920s when the property first came into the family. An illuminating talk enjoyed by everyone, and we all look forward to April when the property opens to the public for the summer.

Our March meeting on Wednesday, March 22 is the Spring Show, when our members are encouraged to raid their gardens for spring flowers and bulbs to display, at the same time showing off their cooking skills with a plate of chocolate brownies, the latter being the judges favourite category of course. As usual our Chairman,Colin Hill, will be in charge of judging, ably assisted this year by committee member, Hazel Byron as our President, Tiny Hadley is unable to attend. As usual the Memorial Hall is the venue, 7.30pm start, with judging commencing at 8pm. We look forward to seeing you all.
