Mrs Linda Garrett had been intended as our Demonstrator for Wednesday, March 7. However, owing to persistent snowfalls in Linda’s area of rural Wales, her visit to us had to be cancelled. We hope to have the pleasure of her company some other time.

Club members still participated in the competition entitled ‘Rural Life - which had to incorporate wool in the arrangement. Voting was carried out using buttons (three for each member); the person with the greatest number of buttons coming first, the next greatest second and so on. It provided for some lively discussion!

There was also our usual ‘flower of the month’ competition.

In Linda’s absence we were fortunate that Mr Adrian James - a local Offenham resident - was able to step into the breach. Adrian, a talented photographer, is a regular and popular speaker to groups and societies throughout Worcestershire and surrounding counties. Adrian presented a slideshow of three gardens he and his wife have visited in the past - Marwood Hill, Devon; Mapperton Manor, Dorset; and the Yeo Valley Organic Garden, Somerset. The time flew by, and before we realised it his talk came to a close. The vote of thanks was made by Mrs Thelma Ree.

A raffle was held following on from Adrian’s interesting talk, followed by refreshments.

Our next meeting will be at our OPEN evening on Wednesday, April 4 - to be held at the Evesham Arts Centre Theatre. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.

Our National Demonstrator for the Open will be Mrs Lucy Ellis with her demonstration entitled ‘Fusion’. Tickets are priced at £9 each. There are some tickets left - please contact Mrs Sheila Hand on 01386 41582 if you would like to join us on that evening.
