On Wednesday 1st November, Evesham and District U3A held their annual Open Day in Evesham Town Hall. The main hall, the council chamber and the mayor's parlour were all taken over. This was an opportunity for the public and our members to get more information about our activities and to meet our group leaders, who between them run over 70 interest groups. Set-up began at 10am, with group leaders arranging their displays from 11am and the doors opened at noon. Our membership team were then very busy throughout the session, enrolling 65 new members and entering their information on to our computer administration system. The 64 group displays were well attended with a lot of interest being shown and the group membership lists were added to. We are also regularly in the Town Hall at 2pm on the first Wednesday of the month (except January) where there is another opportunity to meet us. There is a talk by a guest speaker followed by a drink and biscuits. Our talk in December will be about the Roman Alcester Heritage Centre and it is to be given by Laurence Thatcher their chairman.
