Following our recent meeting, we had a return visit by Matthew Sprotston, with his banjo and popular wartime songs. We were soon singing along with him. An enjoyable afternoon for us all.

This week we had a day trip to Hampton Court Palace. We were given plenty of time to view the palace and gardens. Capability Brown planted a grape vine in 1768 and it is still growing strong and is believed to be the largest in the country. It produces on average 300 kg of grapes per year. The palace is set in 750 acres of parkland including 60 acers of gardens, all situated by the banks of the river Thames. The weather was perfect, making it a memorable day out.

Our next meeting is at the WI Hall on the 8 August at 2pm.
