Our annual summer lunch was held at the King's Court Hotel, King's Coughton on June 21 and members and partners enjoyed an excellent meal.

Our meeting on June 28 was a talk by Sandra Grayson on the hidden meaning of handwriting. She outlined how her interest in calligraphy had led to a career of teaching the subject, including running courses on cruise ships. She then told us about graphology which is an entirely different subject and claims to unlock the secrets of a person's character by their handwriting and signature. She spoke authoritatively on the subject but while certain traits may be ascertained by the application of common sense, the more fanciful interpretations have never been scientifically proven and from the discussion afterwards it was clear many members were sceptical. As ever, it was useful for stimulating debate and keeping our minds active.

We meet at 1000 every Thursday at The Boathouse, Evesham Rowing Club. Our speaker on July 5 will be Ray Aspden on "100 Years of British Comic Papers" and on July 12 our member David Beckley will speak about "A Life in 45 Minutes". Full details can be found on our website www.eveshamprobus.co.uk.
