The weather could not have been better for gardeners to stroll to the village hall in the sunshine on Thursday 19th April and buy plants at bargain prices. These had been donated by Hayloft Nurseries, had been potted up on a cold wintry Saturday morning and over-wintered . It was good to have such an enthusiastic and positive response to our first Open Meeting on the same evening, and to hear from our chair Yvonne Rose just how much had been achieved in the 7 years of entry into the RHS In Bloom campaign. The hundreds of hours put in by volunteers over the years has improved the appearance of the village and also brought the community together for all sorts of events. The Thursday crew has managed to fit in 2 mornings work despite the bad weather – the churchyard has had a good tidy-up and is looking beautiful covered in primroses. After what seems to have been a long wet and cold winter at last we’ve had some sunshine and the owners of 13 gardens are very busy preparing for the annual NGS Open gardens event on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 May. Why not come along to our gold award winning village, enjoy the gardens and tea in the village hall ? There will be a display of iconic Morgan cars and a chance to visit the little museum dedicated to messerschmidt cars.
