Countryfile Farming Hero of the Year the inspiring 86 year old Joan Bomford from South Littleton was our much anticipated speaker at the April meeting. She did not disappoint as she told us how she came to be seated next to Charles and Camilla for a posh dinner in London, how her son played a prank by pretending to be the Prince of Wales and her surprise at being nominated for the BBC award and then winning it against 700 others. She would put most of us to shame with the amount of work she does every day – over 100 cattle and 70 horses and ponies to be cared for as well as teaching riders. She is a natural story-teller and had us all in fits of laughter and she seemed to enjoy our company too, as she stayed to the end of the meeting, chatting to some she had taught to ride.

A fortnight later we entertained 100 ladies to our Fashion Show, presented by Annie and Jane from The Attic at Chipping Campden. The models paraded in front of a glittering back-drop. 7 models paraded in some sumptuous clothes, hats and accessories, and the guests were tempted by some delicious home-made canapes and glasses of wine. They were able to seek advice from make-up and skincare experts (Helen from”Tropic” and Jane from”Campden Beauty” ) and had the chance to win a raffle prize. There was also a chance to buy some beautiful designer wear at bargain prices and we’re sure that many members will be finding their way to The Attic in search of the perfect outfits.
