The meeting at the beginning of April, which felt more like December, was all about the hedgehog. The speaker was Deborah Wright who is the Senior Hedgehog Officer for the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. She gave an interesting and very informative talk on the hedgehog, it’s life history, habits and conservation. The reduction in numbers over the years has been alarming due to a variety of reasons. Deborah gave us a lot of helpful tips on how to look after our own garden hedgehogs by feeding correctly and providing nest material and pathways so that they can travel from garden to garden.

On May 17 there will be an evening visit to the White Cottage Garden and Nursery at Stock Green. We meet at the gardens at 6.30pm sharing cars wherever possible. The list is still open but the £7 charge needs to be paid to the secretary before the night of the visit.

The June speaker will be Michael Brown, the famous Historic Gardener, who will give his talk on poisonous plants entitled Death in the Garden. This will be on Thursday June 7 at 7.30pm at Jubilee Court.

Any enquiries can be made to the secretary on 01789 765105 or Hilary.morgan@talktalk.net . Meetings take place at the Centre, Jubilee Court, accessed via Lea Close Alcester, usually on the first Thursday of the month. Everyone is welcome and there is a small charge for guests but this does include refreshments.
