LAST month was our fourth AGM and Birthday Party. First, Geoff Olsson, Chairman, proclaimed a Special Meeting in order to put forward a motion to revise the current procedure and reinstate the present Committee for a further year if no further nominations were received. No nominations had been received. Therefore as it was necessary to have a Committee for the Branch to survive, the motion was proposed, seconded and passed. Geoff reviewed the past year, during which the membership and number of groups had both increased. The high spot was the Open Fair.

Opened by our Town Crier, Marion Lowe, and welcomed by the new Mayor, Dan Scobie, the party then got under way with a background of music provided by the orchestral group and accompanied by a good selection of refreshments including tea and coffee, red and white wine. This was a good chance for all members to get together as well as just in their interest groups.

The next meeting will be on July 25¸2pm in the Townsend Hall. When John Butterworth will speak on “Hitting the Headlines as a Newspaper Editor”. There will be no meeting in August.
