OUR plant sale at Peopleton Village Hall was boosted by plants from our stand at the Chelsea Flower Show and a record sum was raised for group funds, with people attending from as far away as Birmingham.

June is also the month when we hold our annual garden, and for the second year running the weather was rather unsettled. The event was kindly hosted by our secretary Lyn Maile and approximately thirty members and friends enjoyed a relaxed and sociable evening, despite the high winds. Lyn grows flowers for cutting and amongst the garden highlights were roses and foxtail lilies.

We next meet on Saturday, 8 July at 2pm Crowle Parish Hall, WR7 4AZ. Chairman, Mick Dunstan, will give a brief A – Z of the group’s successful staging of the HPS stand at Chelsea. The main speaker is nurserywoman Marina Christopher whose topic will be Late Summer Flowers, the title of her bestselling book. Marina uses plant material to illustrate her talks rather than slides.

Admission is free for members and £3 for visitors and there will be plant sales, a raffle and refreshments available.
