OUR January meeting was the first of what we hope will be a great year and it certainly started well. Vice President, Val Davies, welcomed members and guests and then asked Mary Hilton to lead the singing of Jerusalem. Following this Val handed over the meeting to Advisors, Anne Smith and Sue White, who after a brief talk, held the election for a new President and June Lloyd was elected. A small amount of business was discussed including activities and workshops for the near future. Our “home grown entertainment” section of the meeting followed. Four members gave demonstrations of various crafts – box making, drawing for beginners, lace making and spinning. Members spent the next hour visiting whichever craft table they chose and trying their hand at as many as they had time for. They were certainly keen to try these again and it was agreed to hold a craft afternoon in the near future. There was also an interest table with two books of Life in the Littletons in 1985 in pictures and words and another dated 2005 chronicling activities, meetings and outings the Littletons WI members were involved in during that year. There was then an interval for the legendary Littleton’s WI supper before spending a further half hour enjoying the various activities. A vote of thanks was given to all who had kindly given their time to arrange and give the demonstrations. The gavel was banged to call time on the meeting and after a quick drawing of the raffle, the competition, “my favourite Christmas present” was announced the winner being Amanda Bostock. Everyone had had an extremely enjoyable evening and we look forward to a year with a full programme of meetings and outings. The date of our next meeting is Tuesday, February 9 at 7.30pm at Littletons Village Hall when our Speaker will be Cameron Addicott talking about “Undercover with Customs and Excise”. Guests and new members are welcome. For further information contact June Lloyd on 01386 830844.
