INSURERS are offering a £1,000 reward for the return of an 250-year-old antique duck stolen from Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe earlier this year.

The porcelain duck tureen, dated circa 1760 and worth £15,000, belonged to Lady Ashcombe, chatelaine of Sudeley and mother of millionaire socialite Henry Dent-Brocklehurst, some time between 4pm on Friday, January 7 and 10am on Friday, January 14.

The thief gained entry to a private section of Sudeley Castle before stealing the antique.

Sudeley general manager Kevin Jones said this week: “Subsequent to the burglary we have reviewed the security and are comfortable that a similar situation cannot occur.”

Gloucestershire Police are asking anyone who has any information about the theft to contact them on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident number 218 of January 14. Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
