AN AA man was seriously injured when he was in collision with a car driven by a teenager from Chipping Norton on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old man from Buckingham suffered serious chest injuries in the collision, which happened on the unclassified Wychwood Road near Lodge Farm, Hook Norton at just before 5.20pm.

The man was standing by his breakdown vehicle, a Renault van, when it was hit by a green Daewoo Matiz driven by a 17-year-old girl from Chipping Norton.

The breakdown recovery man was taken to the Horton Hospital in Banbury for treatment, where he remains. The teenager suffered shock but did not need hospital treatment.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to contact them.

Sgt Peter Jell, of the Thames Valley Roads Policing Unit at Howes Lane, Bicester, said: “At the time of the collision the road was covered with snow and ice which made driving conditions very difficult.

“The circumstances of the collision are now being investigated by the roads policing department.”
