A DUSTING of snow added to the festive feel of Moreton’s Christmas market last Saturday.

A steady stream of visitors braved the bitterly cold weather to buy goods from a variety of stalls, selling crafts, gifts, food and drink.

The event, which helped raise funds for next year’s Christmas market and the town’s Christmas lights, also included a number of local food retailers selling their wares and a pig roast run by St David’s Church.

Volunteers from North Cotswold Community Radio made announcements and played music thoughout the day and Santa arrived on a fire engine from Moreton fire station. Gifts donated to Santa went to the Hop, Skip & Jump children’s support centre at Seven Springs, Cheltenham.

The lights were turned on by St David’s School pupil Emma Ashley-Cox, who won the competition to design this year’s poster, following a carol concert led by the Rev Stephen Wookey of St David’s Church.

Moreton town councillor Jenny Harris thanked all the local organisations and businesses who supported the event but said that the four volunteers who organise it need help if it is to continue.
