THE NEW hospital being built in Moreton is to be known the North Cotswolds Hospital, Moreton-in-Marsh.

NHS Gloucestershire announced the name of the new health and social care development earlier this week.

A variety of names have been discussed with key parties, including local GPs and the Leagues of Friends from the existing community hospitals.

The North Cotswolds Hospital,, which is being built on land next to the Fosseway Garden Centre will replace the existing Moreton District Hospital. There will also be replacement premises for the two Moreton GP surgeries - the White House and Mann Cottage surgeries- on the site.

In Bourton on the Water, a range of outpatient services will be provided on the current hospital site, which will be called the George Moore Community Clinic.

The clinic will also be a local base for the community health and social care team.

Jan Stubbings, Chief Executive of NHS Gloucestershire, said: “We hope that by naming the new sites it will start to create an identity for these developments with the local community.

“We had a variety of names suggested to us but wanted to ensure the names we chose reflected the wider communities that they will serve.”
