HOUSEHOLDERS in the Cotswolds will have an unchanged waste collection service over the Christmas and New Year period.

Binmen will be working on normal on the three Bank Holidays - Monday and Tuesday, December 27 and 28 and Monday, January 3 to ensure that rubbish is collected as normal.

And Cotswold District Council has agreed with its contractors SITA UK that, for one collection only during the two-week period from Monday, December 27, householders can put out additional rubbish in black sacks alongside their normal grey wheelie bins.

In addition, aCDC has made arrangements for real Christmas trees to be shredded and composted at Batsford Garden Centre in Moreton and Dobbies Garden Centre in Cirencester. Residents will be able to take their used trees to these centres for a two-week period, starting on Tuesday, January 4 2011.
